Notice Board Updates – August 2019
FOR YOUR CALENDAR
FRIDAY 23rd AUGUST – 7.30pm start
All members are welcome at LBSC social events. Quiz nights are for teams of four, so bring your friends – if they’re clever enough. Create your own team name, the more inventive the better. Only £2 per person entry fee and the winning team shares the £20 prize money. The fully licensed bar will be open.
BANK HOLIDAY OPENING
MONDAY 26th AUGUST
The Club will be open from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
SUNDAY 1st SEPTEMBER
You will probably have received your Membership Renewal Form in the post. If not, you can pick one up from the Club foyer. Please complete a form even if your personal details have not changed since last year. What you tell us will be used to update our email list so we can keep in touch, tell you what’s happening at the Club and ask for your views. You can send in your completed form or leave it at the office or bar with your payment. Please ask for a receipt if leaving cash with your form. If paying by BACS transfer, please don’t forget to put the payment reference you use for your on-line payment. Card payments cannot be accepted for membership subscriptions.
SATURDAY 7th SEPTEMBER – 10.00am to Noon
Karen Chapman-Gain will be holding her very popular coaching sessions for players of all different abilities on the first Saturday of each month September to December. Cost is £10 per person or all four sessions for £30 if paid in advance. Places are limited, so first come first served. Contact Annette in the office or on [email protected] to get on the list – don’t delay if you want to play!
SQUASH – INTER-CLUB MATCH
TUESDAY 10th SEPTEMBER – 7.15pm
Littlehampton 2 at home to Littlehampton 1
6 – 13 SEPTEMBER
Our cleaner, Alex, is on holiday from 6th to 13th September. Annette will clean the toilets and kitchen each morning before the Club opens while Kim and Katie, from the bar, will be hoovering the lounge and cleaning the tables. Apart from helping by not making a mess, and by cleaning up behind you after using the kitchen or lounge areas, it will be appreciated if members would V-mop the badminton courts before each use. Nick’s volunteered to sweep the squash courts and if anyone else has a little spare time to help with some general tidying up that would be brilliant.
Contact Annette on [email protected] for details of how you can help.
SATURDAY 14th SEPTEMBER – 10.30am to 5.00pm
Volunteers are needed please, for each one hour slot, to help set up our stand, to meet and greet the public and to help run the shuttleserve target game. Details of how you can help from Annette in the office or from [email protected]
SATURDAY 21st SEPTEMBER
Multiple tables means more fun at this social event open to all. Prizes and Ploughman’s Supper included. Look out for details on the next Noticeboard and in the Club.
FRIDAY 27th SEPTEMBER
Our monthly event. Another chance to get the little grey cells hopping.
SATURDAY 30th NOVEMBER
Our annual festive social evening with The Caws Brothers
Total cash collected now stands at £2,108. Co-organisers Stan Ball and James Klanczkowski report there’s still more to come in. So, if you’re holding pledges, now’s the time to collect and deliver. If you made a pledge – how about that cash? Oh, and there’s still time to contribute, just contact Annette or [email protected]
SQUASH AND RACKETBALL
There’s lots to get involved in and here are just a few possibilities – contact Nick at [email protected] for details:
Squash Round Robin – Monday nights from 7.00pm
Racketball – We’re arranging a social racketball match against Bognor Regis Squash and Racketball Club. All standards are welcome, and individuals will be matched up to players of a similar standard. Date to be arranged once we have an idea of numbers.
Racketball Coffee Morning – Mainly with ladies in mind but men will not be turned away. Racketball provides excellent aerobic exercise but is less severe on the joints. Beginners welcome. Interested individuals please state preferred morning.
September Squash and Racketball Leagues – If you are not currently in the leagues and would like to enter, now’s the time to let us know. Contact Nick or put your name on the board.
ON THE COMMITTEE
Another marathon Committee Meeting this month as members continued getting to grips with what’s going to be a very busy year. It takes time to settle into new roles but so far we’ve delivered on the commitment made at the AGM, to keep you better informed, and this first issue of The Noticeboard continues that process. Watch out for regular editions with more news about all that’s happening – we think you’ll be surprised. It’s said you can’t please all the people all the time and we’re certainly aware of that, but going by your response to this Committee’s efforts so far, most of you understand what we’re trying to do and are happy that we’re doing our best to deliver the improvements we’d all like to see at the Club. Thank you for your patience. We’ll be in touch soon to ask for your opinion about different aspects of the Club but for now, if you have any comments or suggestions, please contact me at [email protected]
Best wishes, Richard Jones – Chair
